What do you think of the Fleurcup?
The Fleurcup sanitary protection is one of the best menstrual cups available on the market. The Fleurcup has been around for 11 years, much longer than many other brands and this has a huge impact on its quality and shape. Fleurcup is made in France with high-end silicone. The brand's motto is to give women complete menstrual freedom. Because of this, we find that the Fleurcup cut is the best in terms of price / quality ratio.
The advantages of the Fleurcup are numerous. Beyond the fact that it is made in France, there is extreme control over each menstrual cup. Its shape makes it easy to insert and remove (see below) and its soft outer layer is pleasant to the touch. The Fleurcup has no writing, design or drawing on it, which greatly facilitates its cleaning. The same goes for the upper, which is longer than most so you can cut it to suit your comfort and need.
Which size of Fleurcup to choose?
There are two sizes of the Fleurcup: a smaller (S) and a larger (M).
Choose the smaller one if you have never had a vaginal birth and are under 30.
Choose the larger one if you've already turned 30, or have given birth naturally.
How do I insert my Fleurcup?
You will need to adopt a folding technique for your Fleurcup. Many different "cup" folds are possible: C-fold, E-fold, S-fold, 7-fold, or the "Punchdown" among others. Here's how to run them:
Fleurcup "C" Fold: Grasp the Fleurcup on each side with your thumb and forefinger. A bit like drinking from a boletus, then pressing it. Bring the edges together so that the letter "C" is formed if you look at the top ring of the Fleurcup.
Fleurcup "E" Fold: Relatively similar to "C" Fold, except this time you will be pushing with your thumbs inward so to create a ripple that will represent an "E". Press everything together, so that the non-wavy side looks like a round back.
"S" Fleurcup Technique: It looks like a spring folding of a postal letter. "S" folding is very easy. Pinch on each side of the upper ring so as to flatten the Fleurcup. Bring your thumbs together making sure that one is lower than the other. You just made an "S" fold, easy right?
Normally you should have enough folding techniques to choose the one that suits you best, but if you want to try others, click here.
Once the folding is done, you have to go to the next step: place it in your vagina. It is imperative to insert it fully. Once inserted, release the Fleurcup. The Fleurcup will unfold by itself and will position itself normally against all of your interior walls. Keep in mind that, like all menstrual cups, the Fleurcup should sit lower than a tampon. Using one of your fingers, slide along the "cup" to check that it is in good contact with your walls. It's over!
How do I know if the Fleurcup is correctly inserted?
You know if it is well put if you do not feel any discomfort and it does not leak. If you have just started and there are leaks, it is normal. It takes the right helping hand, and it can take a few cycles.
How to remove the Fleurcup?
Removing the Fleurcup is even easier than for other menstrual cups thanks to mini-cells for ventilation. You must create a draft by taking it with two fingers and pressing lightly. As the cells allow air to pass through, the suction effect is lessened and the Fleurcup becomes easier and more pleasant to remove. Do not pull on the rod to remove it. You run the risk of hurting yourself and reversing your flows.
If you have any questions regarding your "cup", you can seek advice from a pharmacy or your gynecologist.
