How to use a sea sponge the first time?

Before you can fully enjoy the virtues of your sea sponge for the first time, you need to let it take in cold water. Moisten it well, then squeeze it gently to release the water. Repeat this gesture three to four times, this will help optimize its absorption capacities.

The filtering nature of its channels and its mineral content does not require washing it upstream. You can use your sea sponge directly to enjoy a totally gentle shower or bath.

What are the different ways to use a sea sponge?

The natural sea sponge is a real Swiss army knife for care and cleaning. It can be used to clean the body and face, to apply make-up and to remove make-up, as well as to do the dishes.

Cleanse your body and face

Soft, with purifying powers, your sea sponge will be a blessing for your skin. It can be used alone or in combination with soap. Once moistened and inflated, use it as a glove to cleanse your body and face.

Applying make-up and removing make-up

You can use it to apply your makeup and especially your foundation, and of course you can use it to remove makeup.

Doing the dishes

The sea sponge can also be used for washing dishes. A synthetic sponge is just a pale copy derived from petroleum, and your sea sponge will be much nicer in the hand. If you choose this option, consider using a strong washing-up liquid or a natural homemade washing-up liquid so as not to soil your sea sponge with chemicals. Its foaming action coupled with its cleaning performance will make it the sponge of choice for making your dishes shine.

What are the different ways to use a sea sponge?

The sea sponge has many benefits for the skin, face and body in general. Having lived and grown in the depths of the seas, in cool waters with ever-changing currents, the natural sea sponge has become strong, but has above all filtered the water from the minerals and impurities it caught. Its porous structure gives it strong water absorption and cleaning capacities. So, a sea sponge:

  • Removes impurities from your skin
  • Reduces mold growth on the epidermis
  • Reduces skin irritation and itching
  • Makes your skin more silky
  • Nourishes the skin with its own natural minerals
  • Preserves the pH of the skin
  • Amplifies the foam of all soaps
  • Suitable for all skin types (from baby skin to mature skin)

How to take care of your sea sponge?

A sea sponge can easily last over a year if properly cared for. To increase the longevity of your sea sponge and take advantage of its virtues over the long term, you will therefore need to clean it from time to time. How often you need to clean it depends on your usage. Washing in the shower with lukewarm water with SAF soap is much less damaging to a natural sponge than removing makeup or cleaning dirty plates with it. It should be given a monthly cleaning bath if you use it for washing, and every two weeks for other uses. You can easily clean it in two different ways:

Clean your sea sponge with water and white vinegar:

Take a container large enough so that the sea sponge can be completely covered with water. Put a mixture of lukewarm water and white vinegar in the container. Count about a tablespoon of vinegar for 50 cl of water. Immerse your sea sponge in it for about 3-4 hours. Rinse it well afterwards.

Clean your sea sponge with water and baking soda:

The idea is the same as the previous one, except that instead of using vinegar, you use baking soda. You need a tablespoon of baking soda for every 100 cl (1 liter) of water. After several hours, remember to rinse it well.

Clean your sea sponge after removing makeup:

If some stains remain on the surface of the sponge, soak your sponge in soapy water and gently rub in a circular pattern with your hand. If the stain persists, let the sponge stain soak for a few hours in soap water, then rinse it off well afterwards.
